About Us

The Minnesota Beef Council was organized under state statute in 1969 with the Minnesota Beef Research and Promotion Order and further in 1985 with the Federal Beef Promotion and Research Act as an organization whose primary purposes are:

  1. To plan, implement and conduct programs of promotion, research, consumer information and industry information designed to strengthen the beef industry's market position in Minnesota and nationally, and to maintain and expand domestic and foreign markets and uses for beef and beef products.
  2. To develop, implement and monitor the beef checkoff collection system for the State of Minnesota, which is provided for in the Beef Promotion and Research Act of 1985, (Title XVI, Subtitle A of the Food Security Act of 1985).
  3. To plan, inform and implement a producer and industry information program in the State of Minnesota.
  4. To coordinate the checkoff system for the State of Minnesota with the Cattlemen's Beef Promotion Research Board and to coordinate research, education, promotion, industry and consumer information programs with the National Cattlemen's Beef Association.

The Minnesota Beef Council meets quarterly. The next board meeting is scheduled for Thursday July 10, 2008 at 10:00 AM. The meeting will be held at 7850 Metro Drive, Bloomington.
