Industry
leader in coordinating producer and industry responses to major
animal rights/animal welfare issues. Developed "Letters to
the Editor", commentaries, and opinion articles on topics
dealing with food safety, vegetarianism, animal rights and
welfare and environmental issues.
Counteracted
negative publicity and inaccurate information on beef production
published in the ECHO, the Rochester Community and Technical
College student newspaper.
Education
Partnered
with the University of Minnesota on Farm in the City Day Camp.
Helped train educators, guided curriculum development and taught
program sessions.
Worked
with other commodity groups to develop and distribute, an
educational video "Agriculture -Minnesota's Proud
Tradition"
Co-sponsored
an educational seminar on Livestock Show Ethics for show managers
and policy makers, volunteers, extension educators and
exhibitors.
Provided
training to county fair managers on animal welfare.
Joined
other Minnesota agriculture organizations for the past five
years, to sponsor Barn Tours at the Minnesota State Fair.
Served
as a resource to educators on variety of topics related to animal
welfare, ethics and humane care.
Encourage
and support "'spokesperson training," for industry
leaders.
Communication
Publish
quarterly newsletter for members and friends of FRAC.
Continued to establish partnerships with other animal agriculture
and crop organizations including Minnesota Forum for Animal
Agriculture, Minnesota Federation of Humane Societies, the Animal
Industry Foundation, and National Institute for Animal
Agriculture.
