Minnesota Beef Cook-Off Winners Announced

Three finalists take the prize

Minneapolis, MN (March 14, 2005) – Recipes created by three finalists, Wendy Nickel of Kiester, Patrice Hurd of Bemidji, and Jamie Miller of Maple Grove, were chosen at the 2005 Minnesota Beef Cook-Off.  Recipes were original creations by the contestants and picked by the judging committee.  Each finalist earned $250 in prize money at the cook-off held March 12, 2005 during the St. Paul Women’s Expo at the St. Paul River Center.

Miller was a finalist at the National Beef Cook-Off in 2003 and saw the announcement for the Minnesota contest and decided to enter.  This is her fist time entering the Minnesota Beef Cook-Off. She enjoys running, working out, cooking and entertaining.

Hurd was also a finalist at the 2003 National Beef Cook-Off and saw an ad in her local newspaper for the Minnesota Beef Cook-Off and she “knew that I had to enter!”  Hurd is a retired salon owner and enjoys crafting, costuming, cooking and contesting.

Nickel has entered local cooking contests before and likes the competition.  Nickel is employed at United South Central School and her hobbies include needlework, reading, travel, cooking and gardening.
